Glazing System Used
Existing 1920’s Facade, Custom Steel and Wissmach Glass, Vistawall Storefront
General Glazing Highlights
For this project Smith Brennan Construction refurbished the original 1920’s Royal Theater steel and sheet metal facade while also making a new marque using the original drawings and designs. Our contribution to the project was to re-install the repainted steel structure and glaze it using a glass we had custom made by Wissmach Glass Company to match the original style used when the facade was first erected. We also designed, in house, the glass pattern to resemble three candles in the front four rows to give it a beautiful, unique appearance. All lines were meant to flow together to create the appearance of a single sheet of glass lying behind the ornate patterned steel. The lanterns at the front were hand welded in house and patterned with laser cut polycarbonate to sit in front of the glass. We used these same decorative plastic pieces to make up the front marque which we wrapped in custom sheet metal. Inside the marque is a very large skylight we craned into position and glazed. Below, Vistawalls FG2000 Series storefront system was used to fabricate the entryway door and window framing. Inside of the aluminum system is our own welded steel stiffeners to supply the strength for the job standard wind load specifications.
