Glazing Systems Used
Stainless Steel Framing from Switzerland, Insulated Glass Units from Germany
General Glazing Highlights
This home was built on land where two San Fransisco homes once stood. The project consisted of stainless steel frames with European lift and slide doors. The frame at the front entrance is three stories tall and the upper three floors are glazed with LED switch glass (also found in the master bedroom) which can turn from clear to obscure with the flick of a wall switch. All of the glass in the home consists of one and seven eighths of an inch thick insulated units from Germany providing unbelievabe sound and thermal performance. For the dining room, the frame we installed included a single unit thirteen foot wide and nine foot tall weighing 2,600 pounds. Due to the weight of the units, the majority of the glass was installed using either a crane or other heavy lifting equipment. The quest bathroom also used the stainless steel framing as well as half inch obscure partitions and doors. Another unique aspect of the home is the use of seven solid one inch thick glass installed horizontally which look ike green lit stripes from the exterier and provide amazing beams of light on the interior. This project was challenging logistically in many different ways; from offloading the units from the sea container,to the layout, frame installations and glass installations. This was just the type of project we enjoy being involved in.
