Glazing System Used

Hope’s Windows, Inc. from New York

General Glazing Highlights

This San Francisco home is located in a busy area and required a variety of frame types and glazing for noise reduction. The front of the home on the second and third floors used standard Hope’s framing glazed with inch and a quarter double laminated low E coated insulated units. The forth floor penthouse used the 7000 series curtain wall in the front and the glazing here was attached using only structural silicone. The deck was surrounded with a low iron half inch glass handrail system. The sides of the building used the 500 series fire rated curtain wall and low E coated forty five minute fire rated glass. The enclosed patio on the third floor in the back of the builded has a twenty four foot wide by nine foot tall Fold and Slide system. Three panels close to one side while the remaining five panels fold to the opposite wall. On these upper two floors are a round skylite in the dining area and a oversized skylite topping the entire stair well. In the middle of the residence is a light well that stretches up three stories. On the third floor is a large corner unit while on the second is a window and vent frame using obscure bath at the tub location. On the first floor are two oversized doors. In the bathroom there is a seven and a half foot wide and eight foot tall pivot door that opens out of the bathroom to block off the adjacent door to create an exterior shower stall. The other door at this location is a massize five foot wide by fifteen foot tall Lift and Slide set. The exterior door is glazed with a huge six hundred pound insulated unit while the interior door is filled with a sound panel. In the main living area of this first floor is a twenty four foot wide by eight foot tall double frame. The two steel frames are seperated by a in house custom made baffle eight inch wide baffle. The exterior frame is three eight hundred pound one inch obscure glass panels and the interior frame uses half inch glass creating in essence one increadibly large insulated unit. The entrance to the structure is a nintey minute fire rated entry with electronic strike hardware. This is truely a one of a kind home.
